Who is on the wall

The collection is told by thirteen riders, each covering their own Threshing: Brennan and Mira Sorrengail, Xaden Riorson, Garrick Tavis, Dain Aetos, Bodhi Durran, Imogen Cardulo, Rhiannon Matthias, Sawyer Henrick, Ridoc Gamlyn, Liam Mairi, Sloane Mairi and Aaric Graycastle.

Violet Sorrengail is not one of them. Her Threshing is already the spine of Fourth Wing, and the collection deliberately hands the day to riders whose accounts have never been told. She still has a record here, because a wall is for looking things up.

Around the thirteen sit the figures who shape the quadrant: the command layer, the professors who collect the testimony, and riders such as Quinn whose records matter to the wider story. Records that rest on unofficial summaries are chipped as unconfirmed rather than dropped.

Why the pairings are gated

In most series a character page can simply list a dragon beside a rider. Here that would spoil the books: several of these records are the closing reveal of the novel they come from, and one of them is tied to a death the first book spends its whole length preparing. A reader should meet those in the text, not in a sidebar. The Dragon Registry holds every pairing to the same rule.

So this wall defaults to spoiler free. The visible layer tells you who a character is and what rank they hold. Raise your spoiler setting, or press the reveal control on a gate, and the dragon, the Threshing role, the relationship and what the perspective adds all appear together.

That is also why the records are grouped by level rather than listed in one block. A reader who has finished Fourth Wing but not Iron Flame should be able to open the wall without losing the second book.

Full records, gated at Fourth Wing

Established Violet Sorrengail Dragon: Tairn and Andarna. During Threshing: Bonded two dragons in a single Threshing, Tairn and Andarna, after she put herself between Andarna and cadets who were trying to kill the feathertail. No other rider in the series has bonded two dragons. Not one of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. Her Threshing is the one the novels already show in full, which makes it the yardstick the other thirteen stories are read against. Every rule of Threshing is established in the novels through her eyes: the entry, the fear, the moment a dragon chooses, and what the bond costs afterwards. A reader who wants to understand the day has to start with her account. Appears in: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm.
Established Xaden Riorson Dragon: Sgaeyl. During Threshing: Bonded Sgaeyl at his own Threshing, two years before Violet enters the quadrant. Sgaeyl had gone fifty years without a rider and broke the tradition against bonding the descendants of former riders to take him. One of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. His story was also posted free on Rebecca Yarros's own site, so it is the one chapter of the collection that is publicly readable outside the book. He is the only viewpoint who already carries the responsibility for other cadets, so his Threshing is the one that shows the day from inside a command structure rather than from inside a first-year fear. Appears in: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm, Threshing Day.
Established Brennan Sorrengail Dragon: Marbh. During Threshing: Not yet established in the novels. His own Threshing is one of the thirteen stories in Threshing Day (2026). One of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. In the novels he is the brother Violet believes dead, and his survival is the closing reveal of Fourth Wing. His dossier is the only place in the collection where a Sorrengail sibling rides before Violet does, and his later role as a mender makes him the clearest example of what a Threshing bond turns into over a career. Appears in: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm, Threshing Day.
Established Mira Sorrengail Dragon: Teine. During Threshing: Not yet established in the novels. Her own Threshing is one of the thirteen stories in Threshing Day (2026), and it is where her bond with Teine is covered. One of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. In the novels she is the sister who tries to keep Violet out of the Riders Quadrant and fails. Mira is a serving officer by the time Violet reaches the quadrant, so her record is the one that connects the ritual to the career that follows it. Appears in: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm, Threshing Day.
Established Dain Aetos Dragon: Cath. During Threshing: Bonded Cath at his own Threshing, a year before Violet entered the quadrant, and was a second-year squad leader by the time she arrived. One of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. He is Violet's childhood friend, and his loyalty to the Codex is the pressure that defines his first two years. Dain is the rule-follower of the thirteen, which makes his account the one that shows what the Codex asks of a rider on the day the Codex cannot help him. Appears in: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm, Threshing Day.
Established Garrick Tavis Dragon: Chradh. During Threshing: Bonded Chradh, a brown scorpiontail, at his Threshing. Chradh had previously bonded a rider from Garrick's own bloodline, which is part of why the pairing carries more than one signet. One of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. He is the marked one Xaden trusts with the work that cannot be written down. His record is the bluntest of the thirteen on what the quadrant does to a cadet who has already lost his family to it. Appears in: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm, Threshing Day.
Established Bodhi Durran Dragon: Cuir. During Threshing: Bonded Cuir at his own Threshing. The pair fight together from the Battle of Resson onward as part of the rebellion. One of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. He is family to Xaden in the way that matters most in the quadrant, which is to say he is the one who stays. Bodhi carries the Riorson name without carrying the command, so his account is the one that shows what loyalty costs a rider who is not the leader. Appears in: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm, Threshing Day.
Established Rhiannon Matthias Dragon: Feirge. During Threshing: Bonded Feirge at Threshing and manifested object summoning through the bond. Rhiannon rises from cadet to squad leader within a year. One of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. She is Violet's closest friend in the quadrant and the first person to treat her as a rider rather than a liability. Her account is the one that shows the ordinary version of the day: a capable cadet with no dynasty behind her, hoping a dragon picks her. Appears in: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm, Threshing Day.
Established Sawyer Henrick Dragon: Sliseag. During Threshing: Failed to bond at his first Threshing, repeated the entire first year, and bonded Sliseag on the second attempt. He is the canonical proof that a cadet who is not chosen can come back and try again. One of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. He is the underdog of the thirteen and the only one whose first Threshing failed. He is the one rider in the collection who has stood in the valley twice. Nobody else can describe what the second walk in feels like. Appears in: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm, Threshing Day.
Established Ridoc Gamlyn Dragon: Aotrom. During Threshing: Bonded Aotrom, a brown swordtail, at Threshing and manifests ice through the bond. One of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. He is the jokester of the thirteen, which is the role the quadrant needs and rarely rewards. His account is the one that shows a cadet using humour as a survival strategy on a day that kills people. Appears in: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm, Threshing Day.
Established Liam Mairi Dragon: Deigh. During Threshing: Bonded Deigh, a red daggertail, at his own Threshing. Deigh is killed by a wyvern at the Battle of Resson, and Liam dies with him, which is the series' clearest demonstration that no rider survives the loss of their dragon. One of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. He is the kindhearted protector of the thirteen and one of the few riders in the series who dies on the page. His record carries the most weight of the thirteen, because a reader who has finished Fourth Wing knows how the story ends and comes back to the beginning anyway. Appears in: Fourth Wing, Threshing Day.
Established Augustine Melgren Dragon: Codagh. During Threshing: His own Threshing is not established. Codagh executed the leaders of the Tyrrish Rebellion at Calldyr, and the runes placed on their children became the rebellion relics. Not one of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. He is the officer whose dragon created the rebellion relics and whose signet the relics were built to defeat. Melgren represents the top of the command chain that Threshing feeds, and the reason the marked ones cannot simply be written out of the story. Appears in: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame.
Established Amber Mavis Dragon: Claidh. During Threshing: Her own Threshing is not established. She is executed by Tairn in Fourth Wing for breaching the Codex after she allows an attempt on Violet's life. Not one of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. She is one of the wingleaders whose authority sits directly above the first-years. Her record is the clearest example in the series of a rider who loves the Codex more than she loves the rules it is supposed to protect. Appears in: Fourth Wing.
Established Soleil Dragon: Fuil. During Threshing: Her own Threshing is not established. She is among the riders killed in the fighting that follows the War Games, alongside Liam Mairi. Not one of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. She is one of the riders whose death follows directly from the ambush at the end of Fourth Wing. She is one of the names that makes the cost of the first year concrete rather than statistical. Appears in: Fourth Wing.
Established Naolin Dragon: Tairn. During Threshing: His own Threshing is not established. He died at the Battle of Aretia after burning out to save Brennan Sorrengail. Not one of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. He is the reason Tairn refused to bond for decades, which is the reason Violet's bond is as unusual as it is. Naolin is the ghost in the registry: every rule about what a rider will pay for someone else is measured against what he paid for Brennan. Appears in: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame.

Spoilers: Iron Flame

Full records, gated at Iron Flame

Established Imogen Cardulo Dragon: Glane. During Threshing: Bonded Glane at her own Threshing. In the novels the pairing is established in Iron Flame, where Glane is named and coloured. One of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. She is the marked one who hates Violet on sight for her mother name and ends up training her. Imogen is the collection one clear look at a rider whose family was executed by the institution she is now conscripted into. Appears in: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm, Threshing Day.
Established Sloane Mairi Dragon: Thoirt. During Threshing: Bonded Thoirt and manifested the rare siphoning signet. Siphoning is the ability that makes her final act in Iron Flame possible, since it lets her move power from one person into something else entirely. One of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. She enters the quadrant in Iron Flame believing Violet may have been responsible for her brother death. She is the newest rider of the thirteen and the one carrying the most family history into the valley, which makes her chapter the bridge between the collection and the novels. Appears in: Iron Flame, Onyx Storm, Threshing Day.
Established Aaric Graycastle Dragon: Molvic. During Threshing: Entered the Riders Quadrant in Iron Flame as a first-year under the name Aaric Graycastle and bonded Molvic. His exact Threshing is not described in the novels. One of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. His true identity as Prince Camlaen Aaric Tauri is one of Iron Flame quieter reveals. He is the restless royal of the thirteen, and his account is the only one written by someone who chose the quadrant when he could have avoided it. Appears in: Iron Flame, Onyx Storm, Threshing Day.
Established Lilith Sorrengail Dragon: Aimsir. During Threshing: Her own Threshing is not established. It is her Aimsir who dies with her at the Battle of Basgiath, when she has Sloane Mairi siphon her life and the dragon into the wardstone to restore the wards of Navarre. Not one of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. She is the officer who forces Violet into the Riders Quadrant in the first place, so she is the reason the frame exists at all. She is the command layer of the college, which makes her the one viewpoint who is responsible for the day rather than subject to it. Appears in: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame.
Established Jack Barlowe Dragon: Baide. During Threshing: Bonded Baide, an orange scorpiontail, at Threshing. Baide later conceals his survival, and he eventually kills her himself with a dagger between the scales of her neck. Not one of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. He is the cadet who tries to kill Violet before Threshing and the one who bonds the most aggressive dragon available. He is the collection missing voice: the reader sees Threshing through everyone except the cadet who broke it, and his absence shapes how the thirteen stories read. Appears in: Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm.
Established Burton Varrish Dragon: Solas. During Threshing: His own Threshing is not established. His dragon Solas dies at Andarna's scorpion barb, and Varrish himself is dead by the end of Iron Flame. Not one of the thirteen Threshing Day viewpoints. He is the interrogator who would be running the quadrant if the rebellion had not forced the issue. Varrish is the reminder that the command layer of Basgiath is not neutral, and that the same institution that runs Threshing also runs the interrogation rooms. Appears in: Iron Flame.

The Fourth Wing reveals on this wall

Spoilers: Fourth Wing

This section contains material from later in the series.

Brennan Sorrengail, believed dead when the series opens, is alive and rides Marbh, an orange daggertail. He is the eldest Sorrengail sibling, a mender, and the leader of the Aretian wing.

Liam Mairi rides Deigh, a red daggertail, and both are lost in Fourth Wing. He is a marked one, Xaden's foster brother, and Violet's bodyguard through her first year.

Xaden Riorson rides Sgaeyl, a blue daggertail, and leads Fourth Wing. Dain Aetos rides Cath, a red swordtail, and holds a squad leader rank as a second-year. Rhiannon Matthias rides Feirge, a green daggertail, and later becomes a squad leader. Ridoc Gamlyn rides Aotrom, a brown swordtail. Sawyer Henrick rides Sliseag, a red swordtail, after repeating his first year. Garrick Tavis rides Chradh, a brown scorpiontail, and Mira Sorrengail flies Teine, a green.

Violet Sorrengail bonds Tairn, and separately bonds Andarna, which the quadrant has no precedent for. That pairing sits at the centre of the first book rather than at the end of it.

The Iron Flame reveals on this wall

Spoilers: Iron Flame

This section contains material from later in the series.

Imogen Cardulo rides Glane, an orange daggertail, and her signet wipes recent memories. Threshing Day adds that Glane had been bonded to Imogen's grandmother before her.

Bodhi Durran rides Cuir, a green with no confirmed tail type, and holds a countersignet. Sloane Mairi, Liam's younger sister, enters the quadrant and rides Thoirt, whose colour and tail rest on community reporting rather than the published text. Aaric Graycastle enters under an alias, and his pairing remains unconfirmed.

The command layer also moves: Major Burton Varrish rides Solas, a one-eyed orange daggertail, until Andarna kills him, and General Lilith Sorrengail flies Aimsir, a brown.

The Onyx Storm reveals on this wall

Spoilers: Onyx Storm

This section contains material from later in the series.

Andarna is described as iridescent, a category separate from the six colours a first-year is taught, and her true nature reframes what the earlier books say about the Vale and about dragonkind.

Violet gains a second signet, Xaden turns, and the state of his bond changes everything the wall records about him. Read those two records last.

The Threshing Day reveals on this wall

Spoilers: Threshing Day

This section contains material from later in the series.

The collection gives Brennan's Threshing in 624 AU and confirms what the quadrant spent years believing about him. It gives Xaden the ambush that ended with Prince Alic Tauri Baran dead and Sgaeyl burning the bodies before she chose him.

It also gives Mira her bonding as Teine's first rider, Dain the choice between Cath and a green swordtail, and Bodhi the moment Cuir caught him mid-air after he rushed an unlisted blue dragon. Each of those accounts is a rider testimony, not a summary from elsewhere.

Questions people actually ask

Thirteen riders narrate the collection: Xaden Riorson, Brennan Sorrengail, Dain Aetos, Sawyer Henrick, Sloane Mairi, Imogen Cardulo, Ridoc Gamlyn, Aaric Graycastle, Mira Sorrengail, Liam Mairi, Bodhi Durran, Rhiannon Matthias and Garrick Tavis.

Not as a narrator. Her Threshing is already told in Fourth Wing, so the collection deliberately gives the day to thirteen other riders. She appears elsewhere on this wall as a character record.

Because for several riders the pairing is the plot reveal rather than a statistic. The records carrying the biggest reveals sit behind the highest gates, and the wall itself defaults to spoiler free.

The records list appearances by book. The Sorrengail siblings, Xaden, Garrick, Dain and Bodhi run through most of the series, while Sloane and Aaric enter later and appear less.

No. Two rest on unofficial summaries rather than the published text, and the archive chips them as unconfirmed instead of presenting them as established.

Because a dossier wall is for looking things up, not only for the thirteen narrators. The wider cast is useful the moment a reader wants to check a name, a rank or a dragon.
