Privacy
There is no account, no email field, and no tracking pixel. Your Threshing record lives in your own browser and nowhere else by default.
In one table
- Account
- None. This site never asks for an email address.
- Cookies
- None set by this site. Google Analytics sets its own.
- Analytics
- Google Analytics 4, on this domain only, with advertising features and cross-site signals switched off.
- Advertising
- None. There are no adverts and no ad personalisation.
- The dragon wall
- Optional and opt-in. Nothing is sent unless you press the button, and the page names exactly what would be sent before you do.
- Third-party requests
- Two: the analytics script, and the analytics beacon. Fonts, styles, images and game code are all served from this domain.
- Local storage
- One key, tdg:record:v1, described below.
What is stored in your browser
When you play, the site writes a single entry to your browser's local storage under the key tdg:record:v1. It contains your cadet dossier, a summary of each finished run, the codes of the dragons you have been given, any codex fragments you found, and three settings: whether sound is on, your spoiler level, and your reduced motion preference.
No part of that leaves your device. It is not sent anywhere, it is not backed up, and it is not visible to anybody else. Clearing your browser data, or pressing Clear this device on the My Record page, erases all of it permanently.
The optional public registry
This site can run with a small public registry that shows recent bonds from other players. It is off unless the deployment operator turns it on, and the pages that would use it say so when it is unavailable.
When it is on, submitting a result stores six things: a dragon name, a colour, a tail type, a rarity, a bond strength, and a wing. It also stores a player hash, which is a salted one-way hash of a value your browser generates and keeps locally. That hash exists so one player cannot fill the registry with repeats. It cannot be reversed into an identity, it is not linked to an email address, and deleting your local storage gives you a different hash and a fresh row.
No email address is ever collected. No IP address is stored. No free-text field from the game is submitted.
Server logs
This site is served by Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes requests to deliver the site and, like any host, keeps standard operational logs for security and reliability. That processing is governed by Cloudflare's own privacy terms rather than by this project, and this project does not add any logging of its own on top of it.
Children, and third parties
- Children
- The site collects nothing from anybody, so it collects nothing from children.
- Selling data
- There is no data to sell. Nothing is collected in the first place.
- Outbound links
- Links to rebeccayarros.com and dragonkind.com leave this site. Those sites have their own privacy terms.
Changes
If this policy changes, the change will be visible on this page. Anything that would begin collecting data that is not collected today would be described here before it happened.
What happens to your data, step by step
You open a page
The page is a static file served from Cloudflare. Once it has finished loading, and once the browser is idle, a Google Analytics tag starts. It sets its own cookies and sends Google the page address, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and basic device and browser details. Nothing you type is sent, there are no advertising features, no cross-site tracking and no personalisation, and this site never sells or shares the data.
If you add your dragon to the wall
The dragon wall is a shared list of the dragons the vale has given other cadets. It is the only feature on this site that sends anything to a server, and it never runs on its own. A run finishes, you see the button, and the text beside it lists exactly what pressing it would send.
What is stored, and what is not
If you press the button, this is stored: the dragon name, its colour, its tail type, the rarity, the bond strength, the cadet name and the wing, and the date. Those appear publicly on the wall. Nothing else is stored. No email address, no IP address, no device identifier and no location. The record is keyed by a value derived from the run itself so that one player produces one row, and that key is never shown to anyone.
Removing it
Clearing your record on this device with the button on the record page removes the local copy. To have the published row removed as well, contact the address below once one is configured. Until then, note that the row contains no information that identifies you.
Analytics, and how to refuse it
This site uses Google Analytics to see which pages are read and whether people finish a run. It is loaded last, after the page is usable, so it never delays anything.
How to turn it off
If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, the analytics tag is never loaded and no request is made to Google at all. Any content blocker will also stop it. Neither has any effect on the game.
You play a run
Everything happens in your browser. The engine is a set of pure functions with no network access at all, so the run cannot phone home even in principle. Your choices and the resulting dragon never leave the tab.
The run finishes
One entry is appended to local storage under tdg:record:v1. If the optional public registry is switched on for this deployment, a submission may also be sent, and that is the only moment anything could leave your device. When it is off, nothing is sent and the pages say so.
You want it gone
Open My Record and press Clear this device. The local entry is deleted immediately and permanently. There is no server copy to chase, because there is no account and no email address anywhere in the system.
