Basgiath War College · Riders Quadrant
About This Site
An independent interactive experience set in the world of the Empyrean series. It is a game first, and a reference second.
What this site is
Threshing Day Game is a playable Threshing. You build a cadet dossier, walk a branching route through the valley, make nine decisions, and find out whether a dragon decides you are worth it. There are five endings and one of them is a refusal.
Around the game there is a registry of the dragons named in the published books, a reference for the six colours and the six tail structures, an interactive plate of Basgiath War College, a map of the Riders Quadrant hierarchy, and a set of pages about the thirteen perspectives in the Threshing Day companion collection.
Everything runs in your browser. There is no account, no email, and no server holding your results unless the optional public registry has been switched on for this deployment.
This site, and the official experience
Dragonkind, the official experience
- Made by Yarros Ink, Inc. with story by Rebecca Yarros
- Runs at dragonkind.com
- Account required, and the account collects an email address
- Its contents are not publicly documented, so this site does not describe them
Threshing Day Game, this site
- Made independently, by nobody affiliated with the books
- Runs in your browser, and can run offline once loaded
- No account and no email. Your record stays in local storage
- An original story, an original bonding algorithm, and an original art set
The official experience
The official Dragonkind experience is available at dragonkind.com. It is operated by Yarros Ink, Inc., with story by Rebecca Yarros, website by Infantree, background art by Andreas Rocha, and dragon art by Arancia Studio. Entering it requires creating an account, and the account collects an email address.
Beyond that, the experience sits behind its sign-in, and there is no public documentation of its mechanics, its outcomes or its results. This site does not guess at them, and does not present anything as a description of how it works.

How the game system works
The bonding algorithm on this site is original. It tracks six internal values through a run, weighs them against a colour field and a tail field, and then adds a seeded variance so a replay is genuinely a different run rather than the same run with a different ending pasted on.
Rarity tiers, bond strength percentages and the dragon name generator are this site's own inventions. They are not a ranking from the books, they are not canon, and no page on this site presents them as either.
How a run actually works
Build a cadet
Name, pronouns, wing, section, squad, starting weapon and one personal trait. Everything is generated on your device and everything is editable. The wing and squad names are canon; which one a first-year lands in is not established, so the assignment is rolled here and labelled as a game mechanic.
Walk the vale
Nine entries through the valley, each with two or three choices. Every choice moves at least one of six internal values, and none of them tells you what it moved. The readout in the side rail is there if you want it, and ignoring it is a legitimate way to play.
Be decided about
The vale resolves into one of five endings. A dragon can choose you, refuse you, or kill you, and there are two routes that are harder to reach than any of those. Refusal and death are not failure states here; they are endings, and the record counts them.
Keep what you got
A bond writes a dragon into your collection with a name, a colour, a tail type, a rarity and a bond strength, all generated from the run rather than drawn at random from a fixed list. The whole record lives in local storage and there is a button to erase it.
Where the reference material comes from
Facts about the published books are drawn from the books, from the author's own site, and from the official Dragonkind site where it is verifiable. Where a detail circulates only in reader wikis and trackers, this site marks it as a community report rather than stating it as established fact.
Where the books genuinely do not answer a question, the record reads Not yet established. That phrase appears often on this site and it is deliberate. Filling a gap with a confident guess would make the reference pages worthless.
On spoilers
Spoilers: Fourth Wing
This section contains material from later in the series.
Spoiler gating is a real setting rather than a decorative banner. Every content page opens at spoiler free, and anything drawn from later in the series is hidden until you either raise your setting or press the reveal on that individual block.
The Threshing Day companion collection sits after Onyx Storm and carries its own gate. It reveals things the earlier books spend a long time preparing, so it is not a starting point, and this site will not treat it as one.
